Net Zero Conference
Emerging Technologies for Net Zero
Belfast, N. Ireland: Wednesday 11 September – Friday 13 September 2024
Emerging Technologies for Net Zero is an interdisciplinary conference for the engineering community and its cogent disciplines. Drawing from an international pool of experts across electronics and other disciplines, the event will encourage collaborative approaches for the major challenge of reaching net zero; and in parallel look for ethical, innovative technological interventions for the climate emergency.
Areas covered include Transport, Precision Agriculture, Healthy Communities and Planetary Health.
Bringing together leading academics and industrialists to exchange knowledge via a series of short talks, panels, and workshops, all focused on our broad theme of net zero and sustainability, we aim to foster learning, provoke conversations that matter, and to create momentum among the engineering community to inspire and advance the necessary research & development.
The Conference will take place at the Ulster Museum, located in Belfast’s leafy university quarter, between 11th – 13th September 2024 and is open to delegates from all across the world.
A number of social activities will also take place during the Conference week:
- Tuesday 10 September – Evening Welcome Reception at Queen’s University, Belfast
- Wednesday 11 September – Private Tour of the Titanic Belfast visitor attraction, followed by a conference dinner at the Titanic Hotel

Travel to and from Belfast is remarkably easy and efficient. We encourage the use of slow travel when possible, as the island of Ireland can be reached by boat from the Basque Country, from France, and from the UK.
Air
There are two airports serving Belfast:
George Best Belfast City Airport is just two miles from the city centre, served by a frequent Ulsterbus Airport Express 600 bus service to the city centre and its main bus and rail stations.
Belfast International Airport is nineteen miles from Belfast at Aldergrove. The Ulsterbus Airport Express 300 service connects with the city centre.
Dublin International Airport, located approximately 100 miles to the south, provides connections to airports throughout Europe and further afield. The Dublin Express, the Aircoach, and the Ulsterbus Goldline Express 200 service travels between Belfast and the airport, with a journey time of a 1 hour 45 minutes.
