Professor Michael Kozicki
Michael Kozicki joined Arizona State University in 1985 from the semiconductor industry and is currently a Professor and Graduate Program Chair in the School of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering, and Senior Global Futures Scientist in the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory at ASU. His research focuses on the development of novel materials, processes, and devices in applications ranging from information storage to supply chain security. He has over 70 US patents and was elected to Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors in 2015. Dr. Kozicki is also a founder of a number of start-up companies and has taken technologies from the laboratory to the marketplace. He has made several television appearances to promote public understanding of science, as well as being interviewed for various well-regarded podcasts and news publications on microelectronics in society. He was also a contributor to the National Semiconductor Economic Roadmap, an industry-led initiative designed to future-proof semiconductor manufacturing in the US. Dr. Kozicki has extensive international ties, including Visiting Professor at the University of Edinburgh and Adjunct Professor at Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, Korea. He was a Fulton Entrepreneurial Professor from 2016 to 2018 and received the 2019 Daniel Jankowski Legacy Award and 2019-2020 Joseph C. Palais Distinguished Faculty Scholar Award. Dr. Kozicki has served as Interim Director of entrepreneurial programs and Director of the Center for Solid State Electronics Research (now the NanoFAB core facility) in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at ASU. He is a proud alumnus of the University of Edinburgh in his native Scotland.
