Professor Michael Morris
Prof. Morris leads the SFI funded research centre AMBER. His work focusses on self-assembly and phase separation in polymers and polymer solutions. Prof. Morris also centres how materials science can develop materials and technologies that are more sustainable. He leads a grant on looking at wood as a sustainable source of materials and particularly the use of forest waste. He also leads efforts in measuring the impact of circular solutions to new material technologies. He is a member of the ISO TC 323 technical committee that has developed standards for the circular economy and is currently working in the European Standards technical group CEN 350 to develop circular construction methods. Prof. Morris has authored over 500 peer reviewed papers and more than 25 patents.
Prof. Morris has worked closely with industry throughout his career. He leads the AMBER interaction with Merck in developing novel membrane materials and processes and works several other collaborating AMBER companies including Intel, Johnson and Johnson and a number of small enterprises including HTMS in developing nanofluids.
